BE YOUR BEST SELF

Jon Mossberg – Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I have been working as a licensed therapist for over 10 years. I am experienced in working with teens and adults, both in intensive outpatient (IOP) daily group therapy settings and in weekly counseling. I’ve helped clients struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, posttraumatic stress, bipolar disorder, addiction, and weight loss. I work with men and women from every background. I specialize in counseling men, teens, and those new to therapy. I consider myself an ally to those under the LGBTQ+ umbrella.

My guiding philosophy as a therapist is that people need to be able to be fully seen and heard, and then truly accepted. It can be really hard to open up about your feelings and make yourself vulnerable, without feeling like you have to hide a part of yourself away. That’s why I strive to create an environment of warmth and trust, so that we can make a real human connection. Once that’s established, there’s no limit to what you can accomplish. I’m a licensed certified clinical social worker –  a graduate of Vassar College and the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, both in New York. While living for a stint in north Texas, I earned my full clinical license (a process that requires over 3,000 hours of experience working with clients and 100 hours of clinical supervision classes), which allows me to operate in private practice. I am fully licensed to practice therapy in Maryland and Texas.

In addition to being a therapist, I’m also a musician and avid world traveler. As the father of two young children, I am an enthusiastic fan of uninterrupted sleep.
